Dr. Akhil Mahajan is a highly skilled Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist with advanced training in digestive diseases, hepatopancreatobiliary disorders, and therapeutic endoscopy. He completed his DM in Gastroenterology from the prestigious Tata Memorial Hospital, one of India's leading centers for gastrointestinal oncology and advanced endoscopic interventions.
Dr. Mahajan completed his MBBS from ASCOMS, Jammu, under the University of Jammu in 2015, followed by MD in Medicine from Government Medical College Jammu in 2020, both in first attempt. He subsequently pursued superspeciality training in Gastroenterology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, where he completed his DM in 2025.
He has worked as Assistant Professor in the Department of Digestive Diseases and Clinical Nutrition at Tata Memorial Hospital, where he was actively involved in patient care, academic teaching, advanced endoscopic procedures, and clinical research. During his tenure, he gained extensive experience in managing complex gastrointestinal, pancreatic, biliary, and liver diseases with a special focus on minimally invasive endoscopic interventions and GI oncology.
Dr. Mahajan has now joined the Gastroenterology services at Catoor, where he is committed to providing advanced, evidence-based, and compassionate care to patients suffering from digestive and liver disorders. His areas of expertise include therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)-guided procedures, ERCP, management of pancreatic and biliary diseases, gastrointestinal oncology, and advanced interventional gastroenterology.
An active academician and researcher, Dr. Mahajan has authored and co-authored more than 25 peer-reviewed scientific publications in reputed national and international journals, including the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Indian Journal of Gastroenterology, Surgical Endoscopy, and Endoscopy International Open. His research interests primarily focus on EUS-guided interventions, malignant biliary obstruction, gastric outlet obstruction, pancreatic disorders, and innovative endoscopic therapies.
